some pictures

Massey and Rudy Jr. get along just fine. Massey loves his Aunts and Uncles.

Massey loves his pressure gauge.
We never realized how much Massey would like hot sauce.
Here's Massey with grandpa Garcia at his doctor's appointment. Rody senior is up walking around now (on crutches) and even driving!
This is just a cute picture of Massey at the park across the street from our apartment.

My brother Rudy is back!!!

My brother Rudy got home from his mission in Chicago less than a week ago and it was the coolest thing seeing him after 2 years. It was weird for Rudy meeting Massey since not only did he miss the birth of his nephew but he missed Jordan's and my wedding. He said it was strange....but now after 5 days he doesn't stop playing with him, he thinks Massey is awesome. My dad also got to go to the airport to see his son return honorably from his mission and it was a very emotional time. Things are great right now, Rudy couldn't have returned at a better time. Here are some pictures we took, I have no idea why I'm not standing next to Jordan, I must've been too excited to remember I was married.

My dad is finally home!

50 days after my dad's accident, he finally is home. He was discharged from skilled nursing yesterday morning and he couldn't be happier. He'll have to go to the rehab center a couple times a week to exercise and strengthen his upper and lower extremities until he sees Dr. Osgood in about 3 more weeks, and then he'll determine whether or not he's ready to start walking and change his therapy plan. We're also happy to have him back, and is home just in time to welcome my brother from his mission. My brother Rudy gets home from his mission next Wednesday, a day before thanksgiving. Jordan was telling me the other day that when he and brother Carter gave him a blessing, he promised my dad that he would be able to welcome both of his sons from his missions. I know one promise in less than a week will be fulfilled. We've all been blessed in so many ways and even though this trial is not over, our testimonies have been strengthened and I know, I feel better prepared for the trials Jordan and I will have in the future. If I don't forget I'll post pictures later.

The benefit dinner was a success

“Gratitude is when memory is stored in the heart and not in the mind.” ~Lionel Hampton

There are no words to express how grateful we all are for the generosity and love of SO MANY people. Specially to Nancy, Tracy and sister Villalobos who put this whole thing together and to everyone else who helped in so many amazing ways. The dinner was truly a success and the food was amazing. My mom ended up coming and couldn't find the words to thank everybody.

Sister Nancy Carter, one of the sweetest and charitable people we've ever known, and sister Carpenter who was so kind to help in lots of ways.

Sister Tracy Benecke was another organizer and has also been amazing.

Thank you Brad and Olivia for helping set-up and clean-up and everything else you did.

We're also thankful for the church's kitchen. This is where the action took place.

It's as miracle

Jordan and I went to see my dad yesterday and we were astonished at how well he was doing and how amazing he looked! It's as if he's woken up from a very long sleep.
I took a bunch of pictures so that our family from Mexico could see him, especially my grandma, since every time she calls, she cries and apologizes for not being able to be with him, I love her!
Well, my dad, might not need another eye surgery anymore, since his double vision is almost gone. Well, here they are.

Quick update on these last 3 weeks

Well, on Wednesday it'll be 3 weeks since my dad's accident. He's finally out of ICU and he's now in the orthopedic center at Renown Hospital. He had 5 surgeries in two weeks, 4 on his legs and 1 on his eye. He's a very strong man.Today he had all of his leg staples out, and on Saturday he had his chest tube taken out. Our 2 cousins from L.A came to stay and help my mom for 1 week. My dad has a good attitude and is willing to cooperate with the nurses; however, orthopedics is not ICU and the care he receives is extremely different. He wants someone to be with him most of the day, since sometimes he won't see a single nurse for hours. My two missionary brothers have been very worried and we know via e-mail that they've been fasting and going to the temple, just like many, many of our friends and family from all over. Jordan has let my dad borrow his laptop and with my help, he was able to sent an e-mail to my brothers for the first time in almost 3 weeks. My dad's eye is doing very well, but he sees double. He closes his right eye in order to see. We hope that with time he's vision will get better. We've been very blessed and are able to see the Lord's hand in our lives and have felt his love through the many angels he's sent us. Even though these last 3 weeks have been very challenging and quite overwhelming, many wonderful things have happened. We feel blessed and fortunate for having had the opportunity once again to remember that God does exist and loves us very much. Well, here are pictures of those wonderful moments that we'll never forget.

Massey's first sleep over. I stayed at my mom's one night during Jordan's campout with his cub scout. It worked out great, because my sisters really missed my dad and my mom would sleep at the hospital.

Some of the delicious food that so many people sent and one of the many flower arrangements friends sent to my dad

I got to see my cousin Carolina for the first time in almost 13 years!!!

My grandma Maria got to meet Massey for the first time

quick update

Well, it's been just over a week since the accident happened. My dad is still stable, he is truly the strongest man I have ever known, and my mom's faith is truly great. This last week has been the most stressful week in years. My dad isn't communicating with us through writing anymore, he is too tired and very sedated, he has had 3 surgeries in 1 week. We were told he should have one more next week. He had 2 surgeries on his left leg and it's completely fixed, his knee now has two metal plates and screws. He had surgery on his eye and his right femur, but still has an external fixator on the lower part of his right leg. Yesterday morning they took x-rays of his chest and there appeared a black area on his right lung and a CT scan was immediately done. The doctors were still unsure what it was, but there was a big chance of being liquid so they put a chest tube where they introduced a needle in his lung to remove that unexplained liquid. He is doing good so far, they have his oxygen level down to a 30% which is very good, his lungs seem to be working good. The staples on his head are supposed to be removed pretty soon, he has over 100. I met with brother Carter yesterday at the impound car lot to see the car and to talk to the trooper who's doing all the investigation. I cried when I saw the car, it definitely is a miracle that my dad is alive. My mom still spends most of her time at the hospital so it's been amazing having so many people help my family in so many different ways.

My dad's accident

On Wednesday October 1st, 2008, my dad was involved in a very serious car accident. We got a call about 3am from my sister, she dropped off my sisters. We knew very little about it and it wasn't until 6am when we watched the news about the accident, Jordan saw my dad's car on TV and I called my mom to tell her. Jordan found this article online from the Reno Gazette and that' about all we know. My dad broke both of his legs, 8 ribs, had a major cut on his head from one ear to the other, he was scalped, his right orbital is broken, and he bit his tongue almost in half.
He's currently at Renown in the ICU. Our family from Mexico is extremely worried and it's very hard to call them, especially from the hospital since there is very bad reception, so I've created a spanish blog mostly for them. I'll try to keep this blog updated as much as possible.
Tomorrow he's going to have a very complicated surgery on his leg and his eye.
We keep hearing from the doctors that he's very lucky to be alive and it's a miracle that he has no brain damage and all of his vital organs are very bruised but weren't punctured.
We feel very blessed for having amazing friends and a wonderful family who have been helping us out so much. There has been a huge crowd at the hospital these last two days of friends who want to help with whatever we need. My sister and I earlier were talking about how amazing it is to be members of this church. It's hard to imagine what it'd be like to not have the knowledge that we have.
We're praying that tomorrow's surgery goes well. My missionary brothers still don't know about the accident and tomorrow I plan to call their mission presidents to let them know. It's been a very long day but it's definitely better than yesterday. My sisters will see him tomorrow and they're aware of his current condition.
We're very grateful for all of you who have been calling us and have brought food and have helped in so many amazing ways and continue to help.

Fun with the 11 year-old Scouts

I promised the boys in my scout group that I would post some pictures and video to our blog so that they could see them. Here are some gorgeous pictures and video that I took.

Here are some videos from the arduous, backbreaking, grueling, hard, heavy, laborious, operose, punishing, toilsome...and fun hiking trip. It was tons of fun and the landscape was beautiful, it's just too bad we couldn't make our own fire because of the "fire hazard" stuff in the tahoe natl' forest. Here are some videos of the waterfall that we camped by.

Here's a shot of Mount Rose meadows from the very begging of the hike.

A little further up the trail, we found a steady log to set the camera on for a group shot.

Here is brother Nightingale next to the waterfall.

Another beautiful shot of the waterfall, I know it's a little dark.

Alakai, Isaiah, and Gregory in the morning after a good night's sleep.

Last shot the waterfall in the morning light.

I Love Chiropractors!

I'm in love with chiropractors...and I'm just not saying that because Jordan will become one in hopefully a few years from now, but I went to see Dr. Roeloffs a few days ago and I feel GREAT!
He cracked my back and neck twice, he said I was pretty bad but it's all fixable! and I can already feel the difference, my headaches are almost completely gone as well as the pain on my lower back! and I haven't taken a single pain killer.
Chiropractors are just great!

Two Amazing weeks in a nutshell

I cannot express how blessed I feel to belong to such wonderful families. I'm sure that I have the most wonderful parents and siblings in this world. Also, when I decided to marry Jordan I didn't realize how lucky I would soon become, for I would be part of his family. An amazing family which is not only composed of people whom I deeply love but admire as well. I feel truly blessed to have wonderful blood sisters and amazing sisters-in-law whom I love very much. It's been a week since Hannah and Camille went home to their families. Melissa and her family also came for a couple of days and it was awesome seeing them almost every day. Sarah and Britta were the only ones missing. Maybe in the future like Camille said, all of the Anderson girls can get together and do something fun for a couple of days...just the girls! Anyways, these last couple of weeks have been amazing and I can't possibly do justice to the many funny/tender/poopy/special moments by way of writing, so I've selected a few of my favorite pictures hoping to recapture some of those special moments.

A special birthday party for a special boy
Nigel was one day away from being 1 year old, so a special birthday celebration was done in his honor. My family was invited and the food like always....was simply amazing.

King Ranch
I told Camille about this one Mexican market called King Ranch on Wells street where chilles rellenos were sold and she was totally excited so we went one afternoon and it was lots of fun. Maisy and Laurel were just adorable, I think that Maisy learned to like me. I'm sure she thought I was weird because it took her a couple of days to smile at me.

Cute Laurel and Massey
Sewing Party

Hannah and Camille are super good at sewing, they even had a sewing party that lasted several days. Here Maisy and Laurel are discussing measurements and sewing patterns.
These are the pants that I made for Massey with the easiest pattern in the world!
Thanks Hannah
Massey started doing this. It must have been his tooth trying to come in.
Massey and Nigels' first conversation

We spent the night over at Stone Hill on saturday so that we could go to church on Sunday with everybody. The next morning Massey and Nigel woke up acting extra cute. It looked like they were having a very interesting conversation.

Camping at Tahoe
Trying to bury Jordan in the rocks, we all gave up. It was too hard.

Raquelita loves to draw and she is so good.
My mom brought her easel and she looked too cute!
