Massey's 1st day of preschool. I took him for an entire week and then decided that I wanted to keep him at home for another year. I'll continue doing the co-op preschool with my friend Aimee twice a week and I'm currently working on expanding it (it's a project that might start in January). Head Start was a great program, but it didn't feel right for us. I stole a bunch of ideas from their curriculum and Massey wasn't too sad to find out that I would continue to be his teacher, and Rebeca his classmate.

Doing a cutting exercise. Massey and a super nice Asian boy were the only ones that could cut straight lines. Jordan and I thought this was very interesting and worth mentioning...:)

At the Oregon State Fair....their logo was "Too BIG to miss", so we had to go!

The kids and us loved it.

This was hilarious, they actually had a booth where you paid to find out if you were going to go to heaven. We didn't try it.

...And Rebeca ate them all..This month, Rebeca's femininity really exploded. Shopping has been more enjoyable lately, that's for sure...and a bit interesting at times.

My brother Rudy's baby was born and I got to meet him in North Las Vegas. I went by myself.. NO kids. It was super amazing.

We kept wanting to go camping, but it didn't really happen. So our friends Aimee and Brant invited us to have a campfire in their backyard to eat s'mores. It was a very memorable night.

Rudy and Jamie's 1st baby is born

My brother Rudy's 1st baby was born on the morning of September 13th, 2011 (his due date). His name is Jonathan Rodolfo Garcia, he weighted 7lbs 12oz and was 21 inches long. He has lots of black hair and we love him already. Mommy Jamie is doing great and looks amazing, they will be going home this afternoon.
El bebecito de mi hermano Rodolfo y Jamie nacio el dia de 13 de Septiembre por la manana. Se llama Jonathan Rodolfo Garcia y tiene el cabello negro como su papi. Ya lo queremos y estamos ansiosos de poderlo pronto conocer. Su mami Jamie se encuentra bien y estaran en casa el dia de hoy por la tarde.

We got a new camera!

We finally got a new camera yesterday and we love it! We weren't sure what we wanted to do yesterday so we just cleaned up some stuff in the house and headed over to the distribution center because Ruth needed some new G's. While we were there, Ruth found an illustrated Book of Mormon manual in Spanish to read with the kids, she bought some garments, and I almost bought some candy but changed my mind at the last minute.

Then we went to Fry's because we decided that we could look for a new camera and as we were walking into the store some guy handed us a paper saying they would match any advertised price. While we were there, I saw a camera for $199 that I had seen in Costco the day before and I was pretty sure that it was much cheaper there. They lent me a computer to look it up and I found it for $179 on Costco.com. They were trying to work it through their computers (I don't think they had done that very much) and that gave me time to think. I thought I had seen it even cheaper then $179 so I told them and left (there were 3 people working on it, I felt a little bad leaving).

When we got to Costco, I was very happy and surprised to see the same camera for only $159! I love Costco!

On Friday night, Ruth and I went on our first date in a while. We had been planning it for a week and Ruth had talked to a young mom in our complex that has watched the kids before so that she could come over and let us go out. So, Friday I swam with the kids for about 2 hours to get them really tired and we had them in bed by about 8:30pm. Then I went over to get the baby sitter and she had gone out with her friends!

We weren't sure what to do and our movie was about to start (we were going to watch Thor). Finally, Ruth suggested we call our friends, the Stocks, and she called Aimee but with no answer. So, then she said I had to call Brant (the husband) because I'm a man. I called Brant and he picked up and said it would be fine and he could come over and work on his laptop. In about 10 minutes there was a knock on the door and it was the whole Stock family, Aimee, Brant, little Dia and baby Joy.

It was great because they stayed and watched some movie on Netflix and Ruth and I were on our way to watch Thor but we were both hungry so we decided to eat instead. We were in the drive-thru at Burgerville and decided that sushi sounded really good! So we went to Hama Sushi on Sandy Blvd in downtown Portland and it was great

Me and Massey on our 1st (and hopefully not last) father/son man-date. We went and watched Kung Fu Panda 2 at the little theater in McMinniman's pub. It was really fun and Massey did really good and sat through the whole movie. Afterward, we went to McDonald's and got some ice cream. Ruth and Rebeca also went out to our friends farewell party (the Bateman fam- they're headed back up to Canada to start in a chiropractic practice up there). They had fun too. After we all got home, the kids went down pretty early and Ruth and I watched Unknown. It was alright.

Tulip Festival 2011

This year was our 2nd year going to the tulip festival in Woodburn Oregon. About 45 minutes South of Portland. We were starting to forget how beautiful Oregon can be, with all the rainfall we've been having.
We went on Saturday the 23rd of April (camera date is wrong), and had a great time. We took some family pictures and simply had a great time as a family. Here are some pictures to prove it.

Here is Massey and Rebeca with Ruth in front of the Aquarium in Newport, OR. The date on the photo is wrong. It's wrong on all of the pictures. Massey loved blowing bubbles on everything.

Massey was pointing at a tree frog. It is really little but you can kind of see it up on the log.
They had this tent set up in the middle of the aquarium
Massey and Rebeca loved the tide pools. This was the one where they were able to touch everything. It kind of scared Rebeca when she touched the sea anemones and they attached to her hand. Massey loved it and tried to blow bubbles on them.

These were the birds that would swim around and eat stuff from under the water.
It's great to have kids that love each other.

Massey loved jumping from bed to bed. I don't know where he gets the instinct to do stuff like that.

I didn't teach him to dance...maybe Ruth did.

Here are some pictures from our Halloween. Massey was Swiper and Rebeca was Dora. Pretty good costumes if you ask me.

Rebeca was Dora on Friday night and a lion on Saturday. The lion suit worked better for Saturday because it was cold and raining.

A new life adventure

Well, I am no longer an unpaid working stay-home mom, I am literally supporting our family now, by working from home. Heavenly Father has provided a way for us to find the perfect job for us at this time. We have become apartment managers for a company called Bluestone & Hockley, since September 13th, 2010. We manage 55 units and our complex is called Greenwood Village. Here's the website if you're curious to see what they look like. Greenwood Village Apartments

I am finally starting to understand the many responsibilities of this job and our kids are adjusting to this big change. Jordan has been very supportive during these last 4 weeks and even though it's been a bit stressful at times we've managed just fine and are starting to enjoy it.

My heart is full of gratitude and love for our Heavenly Father as I think of the way He has been guiding us all this time. It was exactly a year ago after having moved to Oregon, so that Jordan could start chiropractic school, that our life started feeling settled and that our savings literally ran out. And as I have been contemplating all these things, I can't help thinking of the scripture that says"... where much is given much is required." A couple months ago I got called to be the 1st counselor in the YW presidency and Jordan has been in the YM presidency since last November and sometimes I wonder how we're doing it. But we are doing it and Heavenly Father helps us everyday and today is one of those days where I am simply grateful for his gracious help and love for us, the crazy Andersons. I do complain, and sometimes it feels like that's all I do, but then sometimes great things happens and that's all I can think of. I hope to remember this day and finish these next two years and couple months with a firmer testimony of the gospel and greater understanding of the plan of salvation.

This is at OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science. It was Free Science Day week and we went with our friends Josh, Whitney, Beca and Chloe.

This would be Massey's thumb after cutting it with a shard of glass he found somewhere on our kitchen floor. It happened right after we had just sat down to have dinner a few weeks ago. We have no idea how it happened but it almost broke our hearts to see his sad little face for what seemed like an eternity, especially on the way to the urgent care. He got 7 stitches and was so brave and good to the nurses even though he was in so much pain for a little while.

It's been a few weeks and his thumb is completely healed and when we ask him about his thumb he says: "Las hormigas ya se fueron" or in english: "the ants are all gone". When he had all those stitches on his thumb, it looked like a bunch of black ants and we told them that they were little ants healing his thumb.

Well my little sister Mara is now Mrs. Bolingbroke. She got married

on July the 3rd, 2010 and we were able to be there for two whole weeks! Nancy Carter and I threw her a bridal shower the week before her wedding and it was super fun. We got to be there when sister Donna Lakis did her magic with the decorations and all the other million things that happened for the big event. We're super happy for them and currently enjoying all their awesome stories about how they're starting their new life together.

Pues Marita ya se convirtio en la Sra. Bolingbroke. Ella y David se casaron el 3 de Julio del 2010 y pudimos estar en Reno por dos semanas! Nancy Carter y yo le organizamos la despedida de soltera una semana antes y fue super divertido! Tambien pudimos estar ahi cuando la hna. Lakis hizo su magia con las decoraciones y ver el millon de otras cosas que sucedieron para el gran evento. Estamos muy felices por ellos y actualmente disfrutamos de todos sus historias tan especiales en cuanto al inicio de sus nuevas vidas como casados.

Well Rebeca turned 1 on the 19th of July and we decided to have a little party since, MY PARENTS CAME TO PORTLAND on the 16th of July, so we had a party the next day. My parents can be very spontaneous sometimes and I love it! They just sort of decided to come and called us a few days before they arrived and it was perfect, because they were able to celebrate Rebeca's flower themed party with us and many of

our friends.

Just two awesome weeks in Reno

During Jordan's last break, we went down to Reno, again, for the 3rd time this year, my sister Mara got married (I have a separate post for that), and it worked out great for us, since we could be there for two whole weeks! So here are some of the many pictures we took during our trip.

This picture is on the way to Reno somewhere in Oregon and you might think there is something wrong with me once I explain this picture, just keep in mind that I was pretty tired. So Massey and Rebeca both had a dirty diaper and while I was trying to change Massey, he stood up and sat on my hand, it's a good thing he didn't have diarrhea...hahaha.. So Jordan thought it'd be a good idea to take a picture, so he left Rebeca diaper-less and left me there with two kids, all I could do was laugh.

Rebeca is in the ''sharing stage'' right now, she'll even take food out of her mouth and try to give it to me, it's really funny.

On our way to Reno, we camped in some crazy campground, we were literally under the freeway and we could hear EVERY single car and truck pass by, we only got a couple hours of sleep and the kids woke up at 5am, so we were out of there by 5:20am. It was pretty awful!

De regreso a Reno, decidimos pasar la noche en un campamento que literalmente estaba dejaba de un puento, y podiamos escuchar a CADA carro que pasaba, solo dormimos un par de horas y los ninos se despertaron a las 5am y nos fuimos de ahi a las 5:20am.

We stopped in McCloud, CA to have breakfast, and it was an awesome. This restaurant was super yummy and the people were all very welcoming.

When we got to Reno, it felt like heaven! Everyone was so happy to see us and it was just great!

We went bowling with Rachael and her kids, Hannah and her kids, Jordan, me and our kids, my sisters and grandma Olivia, and there were LOTS of kids.

My grandma crocheted this cute scarf for Rebeca, isn't it cute? she said she made it in just a couple of hours.

It was brother's Carter's b-day, so my parents had a "carne asada". My friend Rachael came and Caleb loved my dad, he loved listening to him speak, it was hilarious!!

We went to the water park, a couple of times and it was SO MUCH FUN!, who ever thought of it, it is a genius, seriously.

The month of May in a nutshell

The month of May was quite an exciting month. We started off the month by celebrating "National Train Day", we went to the Portland Union Station and got to see all the cool stuff they had, like one of three vintage locomotives owned by the city of Portland, which was on display. As you can see there were lots of people, and it was very cool.

The kids loved looking down at all the people from the bridge. Rebeca was so funny, she's so little and acts like a big girl sometimes.

Massey got his face painted, we didn't think he would let the lady touch him but he did and he didn't even move, he was like a statue, it was hilarious!

I think he was terrified of her !

We also celebrated Mother's Day, I didn't take any pictures, I don't know why, but I want to make sure I write about it so I'll never forget that day, because truly was the best mother's day ever. We celebrated it with our two children in the comfort of our home and Jordan cooked all 3 meals, yes you read write, he cooked all 3 meals, he fed the kids, took over the kitchen and I didn't even ask him! At church we got flowers and we had the nursery kids make cards for their moms with a picture of them, and of course Massey made one for me (well, it was more like me making it for me) and it was very special!

These pictures are just for fun. On this month I introduced scissors to Massey's list of "things that are okay to use as long as I'm being watched", which is pretty much everything he touches. He loves cutting paper, but on this particular day, he wanted to cut paper outside, specifically on the grass and he seriously sat there for 1/2 an hour. He looked so cute that I got my camera and got a picture of him.

I also planted a garden and I had little helpers, these boys are two of my neighbors, they're brothers and I actually watch the youngest one, Eddie. He's almost four and Massey weighs more than him. Anyway, I had them help me dig holes and plant my vegetable plants. I think they had fun.
So here it is, it's quite small but I was told I could pretty much plant selected vegetables all year round and since I've never really planted anything in my life, I decided to start out small.

By the way, they're still growing, I had summer squash on the other side of the fence but they got stepped on and died, so this is all I have. Peas, cherry tomatoes, broccoli and zucchini.And the highlight of this month was my brother's wedding. David and Talia got married on Friday the 21st, 2010 and it was so special. We're happy to have Talia as part of our family and to have David start a new episode in his book of life. They're very happy and living in Reno.

Aren't they handsome? and Talia of course is absolutely beautiful.

I've never being asked to be anybody's bridesmaid, so this was a very cool experience, I felt young again. I was so afraid I wouldn't fit in with all these girls (my sisters and Talia's two sisters), but it was fun.

Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival

I know many of you have been wondering about our header picture and I finally get to tell you all about it. As you can see above from our little models sign, it was the Wooden shoe tulip festival
Last Saturday Jordan, the kids and I headed to Woodburn, Oregon which is about 45 minutes away from Portland. It's an event which attracts thousands of people every year during the month of April. There are no words to describe the beauty of this farm. Over 40 acres of tulips! The kids really enjoyed them, except for the posing part, Rebeca was about done with all the picture taking. I was going crazy taking pictures, trying to catch every moment. I LOVE THIS TIME OF THE YEAR! I had never really appreciated the beauty of spring until now. Anyway, it was absolutely beautiful.

Jordan went camping with the Boy Scouts and I'm having a hard time getting to sleep. I've been meaning to make a post about Jordan and I thought this was the perfect opportunity.
Tonight is one of those nights where my mind is simply filled with thoughts and my heart is full of gratitude and love for the wonderful life I enjoy, especially for the amazing husband I have in my life. I love Jordan for so many reasons and if you don't want to read all my reasons, you may skip this part and watch the video, is quite funny and cute. As I was writing, Jordan is the kind of person that doesn't go around telling people about his accomplishment, I usually do that and I just love him for that. Many people think he lives his life feeling unconcerned about everything that happens around him, because he has a peculiar way of acting when hard things come his way. However; he has such a tender and loving heart and as I get to know him better everyday, I've discovered many virtues and hidden gifts which not many people know. Massey and Rebeca are too young to comprehend how lucky and blessed they are to have Jordan as their father. Jordan is the best dad they could possible have. He plays staring contests with Massey's favorite doll, he also, on several occasions has gotten up early to prepare a yummy and fun breakfast for us. He works so hard to make me happy and I know that he really loves me. He makes me laugh everyday and my love for him grows with every passing day.
I love you Jordan.

Jordan se fue a campar con los Boy Scout y no puedo conciliar el sueño. He querido escribir acerca de Jordan y pense que esta era la oportunidad perfecta. Hoy es una de esas noches en donde mi mente esta llena de pensamientos y mi corazon lleno de gratitud y amor por la maravillosa vida que gozo, en especial por el esposo tan increible que tengo en mi vida. Amo a Jordan por tantas razones y si no quieren leer mis razones, pueden saltarse esta parte y mirar el video de abajo, es realmente chistoso y tierno. Bien, pues como decia anteriormente, Jordan es el tipo de persona que no se jacta de sus logros, normalmente soy yo la que lo hago por el y realmente me encanta eso de el. Muchas personas piensan que vive despreocupado de lo que sucede a su alrededor por el hecho de que tiene una manera muy peculiar de reaccionar antes los desafios que se le presentan. Sin embargo; Jordan tiene un corazon tan tierno y amorozo y al conocerlo mejor cada dia, he descubierto muchas de sus virtudes y dones escondidos que muchos desconocen. Massey y Rebequita son aun muy pequeños para comprender lo afortunados y bendecidos que so al tener a Jordan como su padre. Jordan es el mejor papa que ellos puedan tener. Juega con la muñeca favorita de Massey para ver quien parpadea primero y tambien en varias ocasiones se ha levantado temprano para preparnos un rico y divertido desayuno. Se esfuerza en hacerme feliz y se que realmente me ama. Me hace reir todos los dias y mi amor por el crece con cada dia que pasa.

Conference & Easter Weekend

Well we made it back to Portland, from Reno just in time for Conference weekend. The Stock family came both days to watch conference with us and we really enjoyed their company. It was nice to be back and enjoy conference in the comfort of our own home. Massey and Rebeca were pretty good and they we were able to listen to most of the talks.

Between conference sessions we decorated our front door to welcome spring and keep Massey busy for a few minutes. We also had an Easter Basket hunt, we got the idea from Hannah's tradition book that she put together and gave us for Christmas a couple years ago. Massey loved it and Aimee, Brant and Dia were so much fun. Our friends Josh, Whitney and Beca also came to say hi between session and we felt so special for having so many visitors! It was truly an awesome weekend.

There's no place like Reno

Seriously, there is no place like our beautiful Reno. And even though it took us 13 hours to get there, because we ran out of gas, 3 miles out of Susanville, we were still pretty happy to be there. It sounds pretty bad, but it actually wasn't so bad, it was actually a neat experience..maybe I'll make a post about it later. Anyway, so, we spent almost 2 weeks in Reno and Sparks for spring break. Jordan had a break between quarters and we couldn't wait to go back and see everybody.

And all I have to say is: IT WAS AWESOME! we made, well I, made a schedule of all the things we wanted to do and all the friends we wanted to see and we did almost every single thing. We went to the temple twice! Jordan and I went on two dates (no kids), we even got some culture by attending a piano recital at the university. Jordan helped my parents move, yes, they finally are moving to a house (I'll make a post about it later, once my mom approves), I got all 3 bridesmaid dresses for ALL 3 weddings, and lots of other things. The weather was kind of crazy, but it's Reno, so we weren't surprised. Massey was like a different child, he was super happy most of the time and was super excited to see everyone and be around the people that love him unconditionally. Rebeca on the other hand, was super clingy, I couldn't believe how attached that baby is to me! I love it. She's so cuddly and yummy.

Well, here are some pictures, which we will cherish forever.

We went to the movies with some friends, my siblings and Jessica who came for the weekend with grandma Dahl. We did a lot of shopping, looking for bridesmaids dresses and my sweet friend Rachael came with me twice even though she's almost due and it was lots of fun having someone to talk to while my mom did all the looking.

My parents are moving again and we were there to help them and see their new place. I'll post about this later, Massey loved playing in all the boxes and climbing on stuff.

How can we not love Reno. All our family is there and they love us so much!!!

At times we even forgot we had kids, it was great.

Massey turned two a couple of weeks ago and I still can't believe it. Jordan and I decided that every 4 years we're going to have a big party and by big, I mean a piñata, goody bags, and food for the grown ups like we did when he turned 1. So this year we had a small fiesta, we invited his friend Beca and Dia and we ate cake and ice-cream, just a fun little party.

When Massey woke up the day of his birthday, he woke up to a bunch of balloons that I blew up for him. I think I'm going to make that a tradition. Blow up balloons and put them in their bedroom. And as the kids get older, maybe we'll get helium balloon and we'll tie them to their bed, I don't know.

Tita and Tito sent him some money and we got him this cool book that has 4 of MY favorite movies. He had seen two of them and absolutely loves this book

Oh and we got to skype with my parents and my siblings while we were singing happy birthday to Massey. Jordan is a genius for having a computer in the living room. I don't know how he comes up with those things. It was pretty cool. It was as if my whole family came for his birthday.

Valentines day

This year we really enjoyed valentines day. As you can see we decorated our front door. My parents were going to come up and visit us here in Portland, but their van broke down in some crazy town in CA and they couldn't come. I know, sad. It was very sad, but we're happy now, since we're going to go see them in a couple of weeks.

We officially started a tradition for valentines day. We're going to try to make home-made pizza every year for valentines. As you can see Massey loved helping out. ....NOT.

We even made broken hearts. I'm not sure why. We have a pretty happy marriage.

Rebequita got a taste of the pizza sauce. She gave it a thumbs up.

Our poor manual mixer almost died trying to help us knead our pizza dough so Jordan had to use his muscles. When he's rich and famous he'll buy me an awesome kitchen-aid. (I hope)

Massey loves the doll Grandma Anderson gave him after his sister was born. He's feeds her, sleeps with her, takes her potty, shows her how to pray...it's so funny and cute at the same time.
We went to this cool park called the
""elephant house" or something and the kids loved it. The day was super nice.

We went to eat at a mexican restaurant with our friends Aimee and Brant. We got a $25.00 gift certificate for only $4.00 at www.restaurant.com It's great. You just have to spend $35.00, and so we divided the difference in half. It was fun.

My friend Aimee and her daughter Dia, we go to "story time in spanish" at the library. She's fluent in spanish and her husband is half mexican and is also a chiropractic student. They're really nice.

Rebeca can finally play with her feet, the other day she was sucking her toes. It was hilarious, I wasn't fast enough to get it on video, but daddy took some video of her playing in her crib.

The other day Massey fell asleep watching the movie Monsters Inc. He looked so funny that I had to get it on video.

Ever since I had Massey, Jordan and I have known that he's a very spirited little boy. He makes us so happy and even though sometimes we feel like sending him to his grandparents, we love him a lot. The other day I left him and Rebeca a couple minutes alone and this is what I found. Rebeca had sticky arrow notes on her head and didn't even cry. I had to take a picture, especially since Massey kept sticking his tongue out while he jumped around his little sister. Everyone that has met our son Massey, knows he's quite a character. I love the face that he makes when he knows he's in trouble. When he was smaller, it used to be hard to be mad at the things he used to do, since most of them were funny. However, now with two kids, I've gotten a lot better at showing disapproval and teaching him when he's done something wrong. The other day, I made him cry when I said "Massey look at me". Can you believe that?? Ever since I started working in nursery, I became convinced that all kids are good, and they all want to be good. The problem is that some kids have a different definition of what it means to be good and have fun. So it is our job as parents to figure out different ways and techniques to teach them the things which we want them to know and learn.
And I have a feeling it's going to take a long time before we get this whole parenting thing down, especially since there are like a million other things we need to learn during this life.

Well it's a new quarter for Jordan and our little family here in Portland. The first quarter was kind of hard, but everyone tells us that it gets better and that Jordan will be graduating in no time. I think this quarter will be better since I'm starting to realize that this is home now and I'm starting to see the great blessing this is for our family by creating memories that will last forever.

Well for MLK day, we decided to go to the beach. It was almost 60 degrees and we had an awesome time. These are some of the pictures we took.

Pues es un nuestro semestre escolar aqui en la ciudad de Portland, Oregon. El primer semestre fue algo dificul; sin embargo, ya nos estamos adaptando a nuestro nuevo hogar y vida lejos de la familia. Estamos creando bonitos recuerdos familiares y nuestra familia aunque esta chiquita aun, se esta fortaleciendo poco a poquito. Pues para el dia festivo de "Martin Luther King" , como no habia escuela para Jordan, decidimos irnos a la playa, ya que el clima iba a estar muy bonito, y estas son algunas fotos que tomamos.

I wasn't going to post this video, since Jordan and I felt pretty bad after watching Massey get knocked over by a wave and we got most of it on video. It happened so fast. You have to watch it to understand what I mean. We're over it now, so I'm posting it. Massey was fine, he just got a little bit scared.

Todo paso tan rapido y aunque estaba ahi cerquitas de el, y no habia peligro de que se lo llevara la ola, no podiamos creer que se hubiera caido y mojado todo. Solo nos dimos un susto al igual que el pobre de Massey. Ya se nos paso el susto asi que decidimos ponerlo.

I switched diaper bags at home and forgot Massey's extra change of clothes on top of the washer, so I found one of Rebeca's onesies and that's what Massey wore for a couple of hours, until we found a Ross store, where we bought him some pants that were on clearance. He didn't even care!

Pues como soy una madre medio olvidadiza y olvide el cambio extra de ropa de massey arriba de la lavadora. Tuvimos que ponerle una camisolita de Rebequita que encontre el la pañalera. Despues de encontrar una tienda de Ross, le compramos unos pantaloncitos que estaban en oferta y el pobre de Massey, ni en cuenta, miren lo feliz que esta!

After we bought some pants for Massey, we decided to drive to Astoria,

since it was less than a 1/2 hr away from the beach.

I saw this sign and I asked Jordan to turn around so we

could take a picture. People thought we were crazy.

Despues de comprarle unos pantaloncitos, decidimos seguir con nuestro viaje a una ciudad llamada Astoria, donde una pelicula llamada " the goonies" fue filmada, que ademas a Jordan le gusta. Mientras manejabamos, vimos este rotulo y decidimos bajarnos a tomarnos una foto. La gente de seguro penso que estamos un poco locos.

same time, it didn't help that Jordan kept saying things like:

" what if there's an earthquake right now??"'

Este es el puente de Astoria, en el cual pasamos. A mi me dio un poco de miedo, en especial porque mi querido marido no dejaba de decir cosas como: imaginate si ahorita hay un temblor?

As many of you know the movie "the Goonies" was filmed in Astoria and Jordan was excited to find some of the places the movie shows. We couldn't find the little house, which is there, or the rock, but we'll try next time.

Christmas in Reno

Este año, pasamos un navidad muy especial, ya que además de ya no vivir en Reno y ver a nuestras familias después de 3 meses, tuvimos la oportunidad de tener a mucha familia de México con nosotros. Nos la pasamos de fiesta en fiesta ya que mi mama como siempre andaba de organizadora haciendo un chorro de fiestas familiares. Mi prima Anel a quien no veíamos después de muchos años, nos dio la sorpresa de venir con mi tía Anita, Elizabelita (a quien tampoco conocía el resto de la familia García) y mi abuelita María. Luego a los días, mi tío Juan Ramón y su familia nos dieron la sorpresa también. Mi papa tenía más de 15 años de no ver a su hermano, y por fin pudieron conocer a sus hijitos y a su dulce esposa Elizabeth. Realmente pasamos una navidad que nunca olvidaremos.

This year we had a wonderful time during Christmas because we not only got to see our families after 3 long months, but lots of family from Mexico came to visit. My mom had everyone pretty busy organizing party after party. My cousin Anel, whom we hadn’t seen after many, many years, came with my aunt Anita, my grandma Maria and my cousin Elizabeth. A few days after they arrived, my auncle Juan Ramon’s family flew in with HIS whole family. It was truly a wonderful surprise since; my dad hadn’t seen his brother in more than 15 years. We met his wonderful wife and their 3 beautiful kids. It was just awesome.

It was great seeing my sisters and brothers again and Massey was never clingy when we were at my mom's...it was like he didn't even care that I existed...Hmmm.. I wonder why.

It was seriously great being back.

parents had. I think my dad just loves making up excuses to have us all together, and when I say all together, I mean it. All the boyfriends and girlfriends even come...it's so much fun, especially since I never had to entertain or hold my kids.

so a few days later, we went on a double date and we went bowling without our kids!

Jordan got to go shooting with his friends. Darin was in town and

they were able to plan a "boy's afternoon out??

On Christmas eve, Olivia made her traditional and very yummy potato soup and we had it for lunch, instead of dinner since we were going to go to my parents. It was very special...we even had a photographer come and take pictures of us...j/k

Later in the day, we headed over to my parents and had "lomo relleno" stuffed loin, which my mom makes every year for dinner. She fed an entire army...

...and then the adults. IT WAS GREAT!

The next morning, we opened presents at grandma and grandpa's house and Massey got his very own flashlight. He thought it was the coolest thing. Thank you grandma!

We seriously were spoiled with gifts this year. I wasn't expecting anything fancy this year since we didn't have much money for gifts. But, our families were so generous and gave us the best gifts ever!! Grandma and Grandpa, Tita and Tio and Micah and Camille. We love you so so very much and we cannot thank you enough for your generosity.

Daddy crocheted a lot for Christmas and even Rebeca got a little hat.

My sister and cousin Elizabeth came to spent the night at Stonehill on Christmas

day and we watched the "polar express"...it was so much fun.

My mom planned a ''little'' posada on saturday and it turned out to be a "big'' posada.

Everyone that she invited showed up + some friends of friends..it was lots of fun. My brother David planned a few games, there was lots, and lots, and lots of food.

Brother Bolingbroke brought his tubular bells and he did so great

teaching everybody how to play them.

We broke a piñata.. and there were ZERO

injuries...can you believe that??

AND FINALLY on new year's eve, I planned a quintuple date with my

siblings that are currently dating, which are most of them, except for my 10 and 12 year old sisters. We went ice-skating to downtown Reno. Everyone made it and it was a really fun night.

We flew back to Oregon the next morning at 8:15am. Sad...very very sad.

I'm currently in Reno with the kids and Jordan is flying in tonight. We're pretty excited to be back after almost 3 months. I don't know if I'll be able to post very much while we're here, but I just wanted to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and an awesome New Year!

This year we spent thanksgiving in Portland, Oregon, since as many of you know, Jordan is attending chiropractic school. We were a little sad at first that we weren't going to be with our families in Reno, but we decided to make the best out of it and invited some of our friends to our home, cooked a turkey and we had a great time. I don't think we'll ever forget our first thanksgiving in Portland. Also it was my birthday a few days before,

and it was a great day, Jordan made me breakfast, gave me flowers, chocolates, a t-shirt from his school, and we had dinner at a chinese buffet and than we went home and I cut a yummy chocolate cake

with lots of candles that I made.

Este año pasamos el "dia de accion de gracias" en la ciudad de Portland, Oregon, ya que como muchos de ustedes sabran, Jordan esta estudiando medicina quiropractica. Al principio nos entro un poco la tirisia, pero despues decidimos cocinar la cena tradicional-un pavo- e invitamos a unos amigos y fue todo un exito, ya que fue muy especial. Tambien unos dias antes celebramos mi cumpleaños, ya que Jordan me hizo desayuno, me compro flores, una camiseta, mis chocolates favoritos, me hizo una tarjetita y fuimos a cenar a un bufet chino, y partimos un pastelito

con un monton de velitas que yo hice.

Trick or Treat

This year Jordan and I were spider webs since Massey was a little spider and Rebeca a lady bug and spiders eat bugs. Anyway I thought that Jordan and I looked more like the Spider Queen and King; however when we went to our ward Halloween party, this girl asked me what I was and I said a spiderweb, then she said: ""oh I thought you were the grim reaper"....can you believe that? I laughed later.

Massey loved throwing bean bags into this pumpkin, he made all 3!
That kid had great aim!

So, Jordan was in the donut-eating contest...and guess who won...
JORDAN!
and he almost died, because it got stuck in his esophagus I think.. He survived though and got a gift certificate to Jamba Juice!!

After the party we decided to go trick or treating and a nice girl that was giving
out candy was really nice to take a picture of us.

So we came to this house and we see this grim reaper sitting on the porch, it looked pretty scary but I totally thought it was fake and then as we got closer, Jordan noticed that it was BREATHING!! So I totally got scared and told Jordan to go first. I looked at him for like 5 minutes, debating whether or not it was real.
He blew his cover when he started laughing. He got up at the end and that's when I started screaming and left to the next house.

On Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch in Sauvie Island, which is 16.5 miles long and 6.5 miles wide, and has 26,000 acres, is the largest island along the Columbia River.
We went with 3 other couples and their kids, the weather was really nice when we left but when we got there it was raining A LOT, but it was pretty fun.
Este sabado pasado fuimos a un huerto de calabazas en una isla llamada Sauvie, la cual mide 16.5 millas de largo y 6.5 millas de ancho y tiene 26 mil acres, y es la isla mas grande a lo largo del rio columbia. Fuimos con otras 3 parejas y sus hijos y de ida estaba el clima bien bonito pero al llegar estaba lloviendo bien fuerte, pero aun nos divertimos mucho.

There was a little barn that had ducks, chickens, goats and a few other animals. Massey kept calling all the animals "guau guau", which is the noise a dog makes in spanish..it was so funny.

Oh, this is my cool double stroller, which I found on Craigslist last friday. A girl was selling for $60.00 and I offered $40.00 and she totally accepted, I couldn't believe it! it even has a cool steering wheel for Massey. It feels like I'm pushing a little train, it's actually kind of cool.

Well, it's been about 2 1/2 weeks since we've been in Portland and we're still pretty happy but I'm a little bit homesick. I've started exercising with my friend and neighbor Whitney and I think its been helping me. The kids are doing good, Massey seems to really like it, he especially likes the common area in the back, it's pretty much our backyard because no one seems to ever go there. Jordan is starting his 2nd week of school and he really likes it. He's already working on a dead guy whom he named Peter because he doesn't know his real name. Well here are some more pics of last week. My sister Esther really wanted pics of our apartment, so I took some. I'll post some of the bedroom later when they're clean.
Pues ya llevamos 1 semanas y media desde que llegamos a Portland y aun estamos felices aunque yo ya empiezo a extrañar un poco a la familia. He empezado a ir a correr con mi amiga y vecina Whitney y creo que me esta ayudando bastante. Los niños estan bien, a Massey le gusta mucho especialmente el patio trasero que es compartido por 4 apartamentos, pero es casi de nosotros porque nadie lo usa. Jordan ya empezo su 2nda semana en la escuela y le gusta mucho ya empezo a disseccionar un cadaver a quien le puso el nombre de Peter porque no sabe su nombre de verdad. On Saturday we went to Costco for the 1st time and on our way home we stopped by one of the many Marina's on the Columbia River.

After the barbeque we were invited to play games at the Bateman's house. they're from Canada and are super nice. Their son Benson is about 7 months older than Massey and he kept trying to sit on Massey, we thought it was funny because it was karma from when he sat on his cousing Nigel.

Last monday we went to the international test garden to celebrate Jordan's 1st day of school and it was beautiful, Massey fell asleep on the way there but woke up after 20 minutes.

Today we went to a Potluck that Jared (a chiropractic student) organized at the church so that all the new students and their families could meet. It was fun.

Since 50% of my children won't go to sleep I thought I would write a little bit about our lives these couple of weeks. I'm laying in bed cuddling with little Rebeca and Jordan's little netbook is great when it comes to typing in bed with a baby in between. It's been almost 8 weeks since we became parents for the 2nd time and I can't say it has been easy but I sure am enjoying it. Massey seems to love his little sister everyday more and more. Every morning she is the 2nd person he asks for after he calls for papi (which means daddy in spanish). I was really worried that he would be mean to her when she was first born, but he has never been mean to her. It took him about 2 weeks to get used to the idea though. He would hit me and try to bite me when I would nurse her and I just did not know how to react. But after doing some research, talking to family members and lots of praying I finally learned of ways to give him the attention he was desperately asking for. I tried not to force him to love his little sister instead I tried to make him feel like she needed him so that he would feel like a big brother. And now I can honestly say that I can handle things better and have things under control. Our apartment has never been messier but most of the day I'm able to have 2 happy kids. I've also learned that I MUST nap when they're both sleeping so that I can function better and feel happy when Jordan comes home. All this probably sounds like common sense but believe me there were days that I though I was going to go mad and I just couldn't think right.
I also have to admit that having both of our families so close to us helps A LOT! I don't know how many times I had to call my mom to send my sisters over so they could play with Massey. In just a few weeks from now, we're going to be in Portland and my mom won't be there. I still can't believe it.
Just about a year ago it all seemed like an eternity and it wasn't even a sure thing. But now, it's really happening and even though I'm a bit scared and sad, I'm pretty excited. Just a few weeks ago my relief socitety president came to see the baby and she wasn't the first person to tell me this but the way she said it really hit me. She said that it was important for our family to make this change, she said that moving away from our families was going to strenghten our marriage and I know and feel that she is right. Jordan and I have been taught well and have a firm testimony of the gospel and we know that if we stay close to the church, the Lord will help us no matter where we go.
I'm just glad for all the things that are happening to us right now. M assey and Rebeca are truly blessings in our lives. They are teaching us, especially me, not just about life but about me. I'm starting to discover talents that I didn't even know I had. For example, I always though I hated cooking, because I never really cooked when I lived at home, I was always in school or working, anyways, just the these last couple of days I've noticed that I've been cooking a lot, (sometimes it takes me all day), but I've been trying different recipes which sisters and friends from church have shared with me and I have been enjoying it so much! It makes me feel so happy when Jordan compliments my food and I can tell when Massey likes it too, he says "mmmm...mmm" like a thousand times.
I've also found that I can control the atmosphere of my home and Massey's mood (sometimes) by the way I react to things. Anyway, I can go on and on and on.
I'm just grateful for the opportunity that I have to be at home and see my kids grow and not miss any of it. Maybe someday I'll be able to make cute things like all of my amazing sisters-in-law, who I don't know how they find the time to make all these cute things since sometimes I feel like all I do is play with Massey all day and feed this baby who I'm still nursing in bed, oh, and change poopy diapers...

Our daughter Rebeca was blessed on sunday September 6th at the Kings Row chapel and it was a wonderful day. Both of our families were able to come and we can't thank them enough for their love and support. Here are some pictures of this memorable day.

Estas son algunas fotos que tomamos esta semana pasada. El tiempo va pasando muy rapido y no puedo creer lo mucho que la bebe esta cambiando, segun su pediatra esta muy saludable y subiendo de peso. Para Massey aun es novedad tener una bebe en casa, el me avisa cuando llora su hermanita y me ayuda a tirar los pañales sucios a la basura. Aun no puedo bañar a Rebequita cuando Massey esta derpierto porque quiere meterse con ella, asi que tengo que esperar a se duerma primero.
These are some pictures I took last week of our kids, they just keep growing way too fast and I feel like I don't want to miss anything. Rebeca is pretty healthy according to her pediatrician and is gaining weight, she weighs now 8.3lbs. Massey is still pretty excited about having a baby at home and is such a good helper when he's in a good mood...he'll tell me when the baby cries and puts the dirty diapers in the trash. I still can't give Rebeca a bath when Massey is awake because he tries to get in the baby tub with her.

I can't even describe how much I love saying that I have 2 kids. Jordan and I can say that we have "children"...that's just crazy but awesome at the same time. It makes me feel so happy seeing how much Massey loves his little sister, he won't stop kissing her! He's still pretty rough and has tried to share his food with her but other than that, he's being pretty good so far. It's now being almost 12 days since she was born and even though we're loving the whole experience we're starting to feel the effects of not getting very much sleep. It's definitely a LOT more work, and boy have we had some rough nights. These last couple of days I've thought a lot about how Olivia had 6 kids and my mom 8...and I just can't imagine what that would've being like.
They're just amazing women and I hope to be like them some day.

Here are some picture we took at Stone Hill since we decided to spend the weekend at grandma and grandpa Andersons' house to get out of the heat (we don't have AC in our apt) and it was great! Grandma Anderson feed us really yummy food and simply let us hang out.

This is Ruth giving Rebeca her 1st bath. She is such a good, quiet baby. She hardly cried while Ruth was giving her a bath and she loved having her hair washed. Just like Massey did!

Well, our family continues to grow. Our daughter Rebeca Olivia Anderson was born on Sunday, July 19th at 7:52am. There are no words to express how happy we feel right now. Massey couldn't be a better big brother, he totally loves his little sister. Everyday I feel better physically and it helps that I have a wonderful husband who is willing to do all the house chores for me. Thanks to everyone who has called and offered help. Thanks to our families who have been amazingly supportive in all aspects, we will be eternally grateful for everything you've done for us.

Pues nuestra familia continua creciendo. Nuestra hija Rebeca Olivia Anderson nacio el dia domingo 19 de de Julio a las 7:52am. No hay palabras para expresar la felicidad que sentimos en estos momentos. Massey quiere mucho a su hermanita.

Cada dia me siento mejor fisicamente y el hecho de tener a un marido super bueno que me hace todos los quehaceres del hogar ayuda bastante.

Gracias a nuestra familias en especial por todo el apoyo que nos han brindado, les estaremos eternamente agradecidos por todo lo que han hecho por nosotros.

Today, July 19, 2009 Rebeca Anderson was born at 7:52 am here in Reno at Saint Mary's hospital. Last night we went to see Harry Potter with Micah and Camille and about half way through the movie Ruth had a couple of pretty good contractions, but we didn't think much of it. With Massey she had tons of contractions for days before he was born so we thought we still had a long time before Rebeca would be born.

At about 5:30 this morning Ruth woke me up because she was having more contractions. I had already been woken up lots of times in the night by Massey. We were going to just leave him with Ruth's parents on Saturday night (they were babysitting him for us while we went to the movie) but got a call at about 11pm letting us know that Massey wasn't sleeping and he was crying for mom. I went and picked him up and all of last night he didn't sleep well. Maybe he knew something was coming today.

We got to the hospital at about 6:20am and everything just fell into place. The doctor showed up almost immediatly and the surgery started about an hour after we got here. Here are some pictures/video of the birth. She weighted 7.1 lbs and was 19.5 inches long

Now we are just hanging out in room 250 in Post-partum getting visitors. Thank you to everyone who has helped us physically, or with prayers.

I'm determined to post some pictures this week and update our forgotten blog. Our month of May was pretty busy and June has been too so far.
Just a quick update, I'm scheduled for the 27th of July to have this baby and feel totally not ready. Massey has gotten sick once a month since he turned a year in February, nothing too serious, and it feels like time is just flying by. We're also trying to pack as much as we can since we're pretty sure we'll be moving at the end of September to Portland. Jordan's work schedule should be changing pretty soon and he'll be able to come home a lot earlier, which means we should be able to get more stuff done. He's been working a lot lately which is truly a blessing, since we need to save as much as possible. We bought a car a few weeks ago and we love it!
We're excited for this new baby, and for everything that's about to happen in our family. We can't and shouldn't complain about our life, because we really are blessed.

11 Year-old's Campout to Pig Rock

This was on the way out to Pig Rock.

You can kind of see the pig in this picture.

Here's Aleki and Nate with Brother Smith starting the campfire. We camped right up against the rock to try and get protection from the wind. It was still really windy though.

This is another shot of camp, before it started snowing. It snowed about until midnight and it was a wet snow that froze overnight. The ice probably worked as insulation because we were all still alive in the morning and no one lost any limbs.

You can see the snow in these pictures from Saturday morning. I think a lot of it had melted already.

This was a great campout eventhough it was really cold in the wet snow. The desert and rocks on the way to Pyramid Lake are beautiful and it is a fun place to camp.

My brother David is back from his mission

My brother David just got back from his mission last week and it was super exciting having seeing him again after 2 long years. He served in the Houston, Texas Mission and we're happy to say that he returned with honor. Sometime next year, we'll be saying good bye to my other brother Sam. We're happy to have David back and what a blessing it is to have so many returned missionaries in our families, including my husband Jordan. I look up to all those missionaries who spend 2 years of their lives serving the Lord and do it with love and are true to their calling. I hope that Massey's testimony can be strong enough and understand the long lasting effect serving a mission will have in his life and will want to go when the time comes.

Well, it looks like we're having a girl!! Dr. Najima said she was 90% sure and we couldn't be happier. I still can't believe it, I can't imagine having a tiny little girl and a 17 month old at home 24/7.

Massey turned a year old a couple weeks ago and we had a little fiesta. It was really fun organizing a little party for our baby. Even though, Massey won't remember it, we, will remember it and when he grows a little older, I'm sure he'll feel very special when he looks at his pictures. We had a car theme birthday party, and I tried really, really hard to make him a car cake and this is what it looked like. Now that I see the cake on the picture, I have to agree with Jordan that it's pretty..."funny looking".

Well, lots of things have been going on at the Anderson's, I should be better at keeping this blog updated but I seriously can't do it. It seems like every time I try to post something, the phone rings or Massey poops or cries or something happens. I admire all those mom who are so diligent at keeping their blogs updated, like my sister-in-law Camille, she's amazing.
Well, on tuesday Jordan got a letter in the mail that said "congratulations on your acceptance to western states chiropractic college". So we're moving to Portland, Oregon. We're in the process of deciding whether Jordan should start in the fall or the winter semester. I still can't imagine living away from our families but I guess I'll find out in a few months. Congratulations Jordan!
Also, as many of you may already know, we're expecting our 2nd baby and even though this baby decided to come a few months early, we couldn't be happier. We're trying to stay positive and think of the future with optimism since we'll probably face some hard challenges later. It helps me so much that Jordan is such as happy husband and is always so positive, and has such a good sense of humor. Well, I'm currently 17 weeks and 5 days and in less than 3 weeks we'll get to find out the sex of the baby, everything seems to be good in there. Massey is also much better, he was sick with RSV and we were afraid he'd have to be hospitalized but he's a tough boy and is getting better. He's no longer contagious, he only has a little cough that should go away soon.
Well, this is it for now...this month has sure been a rough one, I can't wait till the spring.

This was a pretty good week. I have really started his application to Chiropractic school and Ruth and Massey are getting along great since he is sleeping through the night. Reno is pretty right now because it is overcast and it has been raining the past couple of days. Yesterday I was home alone with Massey for a couple of hours while Ruth went to a baby shower for Nikki Farnsworth. Massey was really cute and well-behaved and we had lots of fun while mom was gone. I set up the living-room computer and discovered that I really needed a new keyboard so Massey and I went to Savers and bought one for $3. He never cried and all of the old ladies in Savers loved him.
This week I'll finish my application hopefully and I'll let everyone know if I get in to Chiropractic school.

Me and Ruth on our first date alone for a long time. We ate at El Pescador, our favorite Mexican seafood place, and then went to the Grand Sierra (formerly the Hilton) and watched the latest James Bond movie. The theater there is the cheapest in town and has rows of love seats!
